Welcome to Presque Isle Retriever Club

Our Mission: Develop skilled retrievers and grow the community of hunters and handlers.

Train smarter, perform better. Whether in the marsh, the field, the blind, or on the line at a test, our focus is preparing retrievers to succeed in real-world scenarios and in structured evaluations.

From new pups learning their first retrieves to seasoned dogs fine-tuning for hunt tests or sharpening for waterfowl season, our members bring decades of experience in training. We share a passion for training, learning, and supporting one another.

Real scenarios, real results. Our training grounds in Northwest PA mimic the same conditions dogs face in the duck blind, the goose field, or on a hunt test course. The result? Confident retrievers ready to perform—whether it’s opening day or test day.

Train or compete — your call. Many of our members compete in AKC and UKC hunt tests, but just as many are here to build hunting dogs. Either way, you and your retriever will train in ways that make you more effective in the field.

Where we train

We’re proud to utilize Pymatuning State Park — offering fields, ponds, and cover that give dogs true-to-life practice. It’s the perfect place to sharpen a retriever for both hunts and testing.

Who we are

We value tradition, good dogs, and good company. From hunt tests to off-season training to the fall blind, we’re united by a passion for retrievers.

Each year, we host AKC-licensed hunt tests and training days, but our core is simple: better performance through better retrievers.
